Why did the administration actively seek to discourage and disqualify Jewish refugees from coming to the United States? Why didn't the president quietly tell his State Department (which administered the immigration system) to fill the quotas for Germany and Axis-occupied countries to the legal limit? That alone could have saved 190,000 lives...
In 1923, as a member of the Harvard board of directors, Roosevelt decided there were too many Jewish students at the college and helped institute a quota to limit the number admitted. In 1938, he privately suggested that Jews in Poland were dominating the economy and were therefore to blame for provoking anti-Semitism there. In 1941, he remarked at a Cabinet meeting that there were too many Jews among federal employees in Oregon. In 1943, he told government officials in Allied-liberated North Africa that the number of local Jews in various professions "should be definitely limited" so as to "eliminate the specific and understandable complaints which the Germans bore towards the Jews in Germany."There's considerable irony in the fact that FDR, who sent millions of Americans off to fight and die against Nazism (over four hundred thousand of whom never made it home) is now being accused by Zionists of anti-Semitism...especially in light of the fact that organized Jewry had previously praised him as a sainted demigod, e.g. from this review of FDR and the Jews by Richard Breitman and Allan J. Lichtman, reviewed in The New York Times by David Oshinsky:
There is evidence of other troubling private remarks by FDR too, including dismissing pleas for Jewish refugees as "Jewish wailing" and "sob stuff"; expressing (to a senator ) his pride that "there is no Jewish blood in our veins"; and characterizing a tax maneuver by a Jewish newspaper publisher as "a dirty Jewish trick." But the most common theme in Roosevelt's private statements about Jews has to do with his perception that they were "overcrowding" many professions and exercising undue influence.
Franklin Roosevelt enjoyed the overwhelming support of American Jews during his presidency, and the reasons are clear. In his three-plus terms from 1933 to 1945, he led the war against Hitler, supported a Jewish homeland in Palestine, appointed a Jew to the Supreme Court, chose another to be his secretary of the Treasury and surrounded himself with Jewish advisers who helped shape the laws that revolutionized the role of government in American life — what some critics sneeringly called the “Jew Deal.” Then, of course, there was Eleanor Roosevelt, whose concern for minorities fused the bond even tighter. When Roosevelt died in 1945, the Rabbinical Assembly of America described him, almost supernaturally, as an “immortal leader of humanity and a peerless servant of God.”...
Times have changed. All presidents are subject to the tides of revisionist history, their legacies constantly in flux. For Roosevelt, the most controversial scholarship concerns a troubling moral question: What, exactly, did he do in his 12 years in office to protect the Jews of Europe from Nazi genocide? And the answer, many now believe, is: Not nearly enough. So when it comes to Zionists, the modus operandi is always "What have you done for us lately, and what can you do for us now?"
In the case of FDR, the answer is clearly "nothing."
But that still doesn't explain why Zionist Jewry has flipped 180 degrees and today drags the president it once praised as a Judeophile "peerless servant of God" through the mud as an anti-Semite all these decades later.
To find the full reason the Zionist "historians" are now categorizing FDR as an anti-Semite, we must turn to another book review, this one by historian Mark Weber and his review of The Abandonment Of The Jews: America and the Holocaust, by David S. Wyman.
Wyman makes no secret of his basic outlook. In the preface he describes himself as "strongly pro-Zionist" and a "resolute supporter of the state of Israel." He is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Simon Wiesenthal Center of Los Angeles...So what do the Zionists and their accomplices gain by turning against FDR today? The same measure of profit they gained by inflating the persecution of the Jews during World War II and by steadly revising and inflating the scope and degree of the Holocaust over the seven decades since: it's all part and parcel not only of the Holocaust Industry, but of the Zionist war racket, which utilizes the "salvation" of the Jews as leverage to badger, extort, and emotionally blackmail average Gentiles in general and Americans in particular into fighting wars for Israel.
Wyman's main charge is that the British and American political leaders, including President Roosevelt, turned down numerous proposals that they knew would have saved hundreds of thousands of European Jews from certain death at German hands. In doing so, Wyman argues, the Allied leaders showed inexcusable indifference, betrayed their own highly-touted moral principles, and therefore share some historical responsibility for the slaughter of European Jewry.
But there is another explanation for this apparently heinous negligence: Along with others in a position to know, the Allied leaders did not believe their own propaganda that Germany was systematically destroying Europe's Jews. (This point has already been dealt with at some length in The Journal by A. Butz, Winter 1982, and K.C. Gleason, Winter 1984.) Wyman assembles compelling evidence for this alternative explanation, but like other Holocaust historians, he ignores the obvious and tries instead to make the evidence fit his preconceived thesis. To the unbiased reader, the facts he presents actually cast severe doubt on the Holocaust story.
Rabbi Stephen Wise, who was president of both the American Jewish Congress and the World Jewish Congress, announced at a press conference in late November 1942 that, according to information confirmed by the State Department, the Germans had already killed two million European Jews as part of an "extermination campaign." In fact, the State Department had confirmed nothing of the kind. Two weeks later, its specialist for European Jewish affairs, R. Borden Reams, urged higher Department official's to try to persuade Wise "to call off, or at least to tone down, the present world-wide publicity campaign concerning 'mass murders' and particularly to ask Dr. Wise to avoid any implications that the State Department furnished him with official documentary proof of these stories."
The State Department issued a formal statement, which was made public on 4 September 1942, protesting the "brutal mass murders" of "hundreds of thousands" of Jews deported from Germany and other countries under German control "in accordance with the announced policy of the Nazis to exterminate the Jews of Europe." But as Wyman points out, the day before this statement was made public, Undersecretary of State Sumner Welles privately assured Wise that in reality the deported Jews were not being killed. The "real purpose" of the deportation program, Welles said, was "to use Jews in connection with war work" in Germany, Poland and Russia.
And although President Roosevelt had issued a vaguely worded condemnation in July 1942 of the alleged German extermination of the Jews, he privately told his close Jewish confidant Felix Frankfurter in mid-September 1942 not to worry because the deported Jews were simply being employed in the Soviet frontier area. While Walter Laqueur and a few other Jewish historians have cited this revealing statement by Roosevelt, Wyman prefers to ignore it.
And since "War is the health of the state," this additionally serves the interests of the larger Diaspora Zionist racket, which utilizes big government as a kind of Big Brother golem, turning it into a servant of Zionist Jewry and its self-serving, insatiable, and all-consuming geopolitical, economic and messianic interests.
Same as it ever was.
POSTSCRIPT: I didn't initially make the connection, but David S. Wyman, author of Abandonment Of The Jews: America and the Holocaust (critiqued by Mark Weber above) is the namesake of the David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies that employs Rafael Medoff as director. Medoff wrote the LA Times op-ed mentioned in the opening paragraph of this piece, and authored the book FDR and the Holocaust: A Breach of Faith.
Here's the Wyman Institute's mission as described by its website: "Based on the research of Professor David S. Wyman concerning America’s response to Nazism and the Holocaust, the Wyman Institute focuses on the abandonment of Europe’s Jews during the Nazi era, the efforts to promote rescue, and the moral and historical lessons of those experiences."
So it seems this clique of Zionists has created a veritable cottage industry of agitation and recrimination revolving around exaggerating the scope of the Holocaust, and then leveling accusations that the U.S. government was complicit in the Holocaust for not saving the bacon of the Zionist Trotskyites and Bolsheviks targeted by the Nazis as political enemies sooner than it did.
But where is the accountability for the Zionists and Bolsheviks who conflated themselves with organized Jewry, which understandably led to Nazi fear and loathing of all of Jewry? For example, FDR advisor Rabbi Stephen Wise, also mentioned by Mark Weber above, who in 1942 said: "Some call it Communism; I call it Judaism."
Conflating itself with all manner of extreme and murderous political ideologies like Zionism and Bolshevism time and again is exactly how the corrupt leadership of organized Jewry puts itself and all of Jewry in the line of fire time and again.
But tragically, just as it's the nature of the Islamist strain of Islam, fanatically conflating religion and politics seems to be the nature of the mainstream of organized Jewry, as well.
